Born into this world by Annie and Josh Sr, both with the gift of song  from Paterson NJ , music was destined to be in the life of Joshua Hickson Jr aka “Raspy Soul” . Mom ,Annie , kept feeding her son’s desire to sing ,from the church solos to singing along with records being played in the house.  Joshua begin to understand his own gift, many nights staying up past his bedtime to listen to records.  Hearing the sound of legends like Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder , Luther Vandross ,etc he was drawn in instantly . School years were filled with talent shows and taking notes from the era that molded his creativity and style ,  the amazing 90s! Joshua has continued to master his craft and the artist and brand known as “Raspy Soul “ was created circa 2018 . With the combination of an undeniably gifted vocal range and a pure RnB pen, his goal is to create timeless music that makes people feel something REAL .
